In 2015, the international theme of World Suicide Prevention Day is Preventing Suicide: Reaching Out and Saving Lives.’
It is speaking up to reduce the stigma around talking about suicide prevention safely. It is about standing up to make a positive impact on our mental health and well-being. It is about being self informed and aware of support and services available to all those touched by suicide and those building a resilient community to prevent suicide.
GCAP and the Student Guild are aware that all of you face many stresses throughout your time at University. It’s important that we all support each other. In an effort to show we care, we encourage all students and staff to stop into the Gold Coast campus Coffee Bug or Providore University to grab 2 for 1 coffees and ask “are you ok”? (valid only Thursday 10 September 2015)
We are working with MYMINDGC on the #stopstigma campaign – to get us all talking about mental illness (or mental health more generally) with the aim of squashing the stigma that surrounds it. They have kindly donated a gift voucher for the most creative pledge photo uploaded with the #stopstigma and tag MYMINDGC.
