GCAP Update from the President

Welcome over to Semester Two, or welcome to the University for our new students!
I’d like to preface by extending an invitation to our next major social event, the second annual Cocktails in the Sky to be held at the Q1 SkyPoint Observation Deck on – grab your calendars, Saturday September 5th. A great big social evening to network with other Postgraduates, and good times won’t stop there…
Back by popular demand will be free coffees, lunches and monthly social drinks (beginning this Friday July 31st!). The current round of Funding and Grants has launched, so get onto www.gcap.org.au to apply for a scholarship, charity/community endeavour or professional development opportunity.  Finally, keep watching for excursions to popular tourist locations and attractions to be announced… there is plenty to get amongst. It has been great to already have met some of you at club-sign-on this week, and see the association gaining momentum after the break.
Academic services is about to boom with a  packed semester booked; six more of the popular Shut Up and Write events, and a myriad of workshops on life management, software, and research already in the works.
I invite all of you to keep in touch with your GCAP community and make it out to as many events you can. We have a fantastic 13-strong Executive Committee this term – a team of players stoked to meet you.
Let’s settle in for a bumper semester of great postgraduate student experiences ahead,
Fleur McLeary
GCAP President
